Ingredients
1 pound (about 3 cups hulled) fresh strawberries
6–8 large lemons
1 cup granulated sugar
6 cups water
Ice cubes
Fresh mint sprigs (optional, for garnish)
Extra strawberry slices (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Wash and hull strawberries. Blend with 1 cup water until smooth.
Strain the strawberry puree through a mesh sieve.
In a large pitcher, combine strained puree, 5 cups water, and sugar.
Juice the lemons and add 1-1.5 cups of lemon juice to the pitcher.
Stir well, then chill until cold.
Fill glasses with ice and pour the lemonade.
Garnish with mint sprigs and strawberry slices if desired.
Notes
Frozen strawberries can be used; thaw completely before pureeing.
Adjust sugar to taste. For a different flavor, substitute honey or agave nectar for sugar.
Use filtered water for best flavor.
Meyer lemons yield a sweeter, less acidic version.
