Ingredients
1 (18.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup milk
1 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup melted butter
1/4 cup lemon zest (about 2 lemons)
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
Optional: 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (for topping)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
Spread cake mix evenly in the bottom of a greased 13×9-inch baking pan
In a bowl, mix cream cheese and milk until smooth
Spread cream cheese mixture over the cake mix
Sprinkle sugar evenly over the cream cheese layer
Pour melted butter in dots across the surface
Sprinkle lemon zest and lemon juice in the final layer
Bake for 40-50 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
Cool slightly before slicing
