Ingredients
2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 6–8 large lemons)
1 cup granulated sugar
5 cups water (2 cups for the simple syrup, 3 cups cold for dilution)
Ice, for serving
Optional garnish: fresh strawberry slices, lemon wedges, mint sprigs
Instructions
Combine 2 cups of water and 1 cup of sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let the simple syrup cool completely.
Place 2 cups of sliced strawberries in a blender and puree until smooth. Strain the puree through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher to remove pulp and seeds.
Once the simple syrup has cooled, add it to the pitcher with the strawberry puree and freshly squeezed lemon juice.
Stir in 3 cups of cold water until well combined. Refrigerate the lemonade for at least 1 hour to chill.
Serve over ice, garnished with fresh strawberries, lemon wedges, and mint sprigs if desired.
Notes
Use ripe, sweet strawberries for the best flavor
Bottled lemon juice is not recommended as it affects the taste
Frozen strawberries can be substituted, but the color and flavor may be less vibrant
For a sweeter or tart flavor, adjust the sugar or lemon juice to your taste
The lemonade can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to two days
