Ingredients
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
12 tbsp cold unsalted butter, cubed
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp salt
4 cups fresh strawberries, halved
1 tsp lemon zest
1/4 cup lemon juice (optional, if using additional acidity)
1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs, cut with halal-certified butter alternatives
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
Mix flour, 3/4 cup sugar, salt, and 3 tbsp butter until crumbly for crust
Press mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking pan
Bake crust for 10 minutes or until firm
In a bowl, mash strawberries, add lemon zest and juice, mix with 1/4 cup sugar, and spread over cooled crust
Combine 1 3/4 cups flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, and 9 tbsp cold butter in a separate bowl for crumble topping
Sprinkle topping evenly over strawberries
Bake 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly
Notes
Frozen strawberries can be thawed and drained before use
Coconut sugar can substitute granulated sugar in crust and filling for a caramel flavor
Keep butter and crumb mixture cold for optimal flakiness
