Ingredients

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup vegetable oil

3 large eggs

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup fresh orange juice

2 tbsp orange zest

1 tsp vanilla extract

Optional: Cream cheese frosting or orange glaze

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.

3. Add softened butter and oil. Mix until crumbly.

4. In another bowl, whisk eggs, buttermilk, orange juice, zest, and vanilla.

5. Gradually add wet ingredients to the dry mixture and beat until smooth.

6. Divide batter evenly between pans and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

7. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

8. Frost with cream cheese frosting or drizzle with orange glaze before serving.
