Ingredients
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter (room temp)
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 tbsp vanilla extract
¾ cup whole milk
Pink or blue gel food coloring
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch round cake pans.
2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the batter.
6. Divide batter in half; color one half with pink or blue gel.
7. Pour colored batter into the center of one pan; cover with plain batter.
8. Bake for 30–35 minutes. Cool completely.
9. Frost with buttercream and decorate to your theme.
Notes
Store in the refrigerator up to 3 days.
Use gel coloring for vibrant color without thinning the batter.
Can be adapted to cupcakes or cake pops.
