Ingredients
🎂 For the Cake:
1 box (15.25 oz) Devil’s Food chocolate cake mix
1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
2–3 large eggs (2 for lighter, 3 for richer texture)
1 tsp almond extract
🍫 Optional Chocolate Glaze Frosting:
1 cup granulated sugar
⅓ cup milk
5 tbsp unsalted butter
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
2. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, cherry pie filling, eggs, and almond extract.
3. Stir until just combined — leave some cherry pieces whole for texture.
4. Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
5. Bake for 25–35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
6. For optional glaze: In a saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and milk. Bring to boil for 1 minute.
7. Remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips until smooth.
8. Pour warm glaze over warm cake. Let cool and set before serving.
Notes
Use Devil’s Food for the richest chocolate flavor.
3 eggs = denser cake. 2 eggs = lighter crumb.
Glaze is optional but makes it taste like a bakery cake.
Add whipped cream or serve with vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.
Store covered at room temp for 2–3 days, or refrigerate up to 5 days.
