Ingredients
1 chocolate cake, cubed (homemade or store-bought)
2 cups cherry pie filling or cherry compote
2 cups heavy whipping cream
½ cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2–3 tbsp kirsch or cherry liqueur (optional)
Chocolate shavings or curls for garnish
Instructions
1. Cut chocolate cake into bite-sized cubes.
2. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
3. Optional: Drizzle kirsch over cake cubes.
4. In a trifle bowl, layer chocolate cake evenly.
5. Add a generous layer of cherry filling.
6. Spoon a thick layer of whipped cream.
7. Repeat layers and finish with whipped cream.
8. Garnish with chocolate shavings and extra cherries.
9. Chill at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
Best enjoyed within 3 days.
Kirsch adds authentic flavor but is optional.
For individual servings, build in small glasses.
