Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 cup buttermilk or sour cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups peeled, diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
Streusel Topping:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round pan.
2. In a bowl, combine flour, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. In another bowl, beat butter and eggs. Add buttermilk and vanilla. Mix well.
4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet. Fold in diced apples.
5. Pour batter into prepared pan.
6. In a small bowl, mix streusel ingredients until crumbly. Sprinkle on top of batter.
7. Bake 40–45 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
8. Cool for 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
Best enjoyed warm with coffee or tea.
Store in an airtight container up to 3 days.
Freeze individual slices for up to 3 months.
