Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup finely ground almonds (almond flour)
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temp)
2/3 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 tsp pure almond extract
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup buttermilk or whole milk
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line your cake pan.
2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, almond flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add eggs one at a time. Stir in almond and vanilla extracts.
5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture.
6. Pour batter into pan and smooth top.
7. Bake 35–40 min, or until toothpick comes out clean.
8. Cool in pan 10 min, then transfer to rack.
9. Optional: Dust with powdered sugar or glaze before serving.
Notes
Add citrus zest for extra brightness.
Top with slivered almonds before baking for a crunchy finish.
Swirl in raspberry or cherry jam for a fruity variation.
